To access Alyssa's Star Challenge, go into the Charm Forest under the Things To Do MENU and to the far left is the fairy Alyssa click on her. I suggest you see Alyssa before you go charming, because often if I do charming first Alyssa freezes up.
Ok, here is some advice:
You can click on the shiny little stars or you can wait and see if a comet flies by.
Sometimes you will see a comet and you have to try to catch it. sometimes you will only get the fancy words 'shooting star' and sometimes it shows a colored comet. If you get a comet you win a prize.
Like a piece for the space suit. If you get the fancy words you get ---fancy words.
If you click on a star and catch one, Alyssa will offer to trade you for it. She will offer you a pixie puck worth KC. If you choose to trade you do not get a puck. you get KC. If you miss it says miss and you keep trying.
I did sell one of my stars and I didn't get the puck--just the cash value
I think this is like Arte. you need to try and collect them all and in the end you should get the throne. I think it is a glitch that some ppl have received one in their docks already

Once you find something your turn is over, just like in the gem hunt.

I talked to a support member at Webkinz yesterday and i asked him about the star hunt and he confirmed that it IS renewable like the gem hunt. So save any duplicate stars you find you'll be able to unlock the throne again once you complete a second set!

This leads to a VERY simple strategy that would find ALL of the stars!!
First, look at which type of star you need the most of, then this is your plan for that day:
If you need Astro Stars, click on Zingoz, Wishing Well, and POTM Ribbon. Do them in that order too, it will give the best chance of finding other rare stars.
For the Glow Flakes, click on Wishing Well, POTM Ribbon, and Plumpy -- again in that order.
To get Sun Sparks, click on Zingoz, Wishing Well, and Plumpy, in that order.
It is surprising, but true, that you only need to click on these 4 constellations to find every possible star!!
Of course, you will find many other stars in those constellations too, but eventually you should get the ones wanted. At least this assures that you are looking in the right places, much like choosing the correct mine in the gem hunt.[/color]
By the way, the Sun Sparks are a very hard group to find -- out of the 8 rarest stars, 6 are Sun Sparks, so look for those the most.
Stars found least often have been Lunamite (#1 Astro), Frost Flake (#1 Glow Flake) and then all of the Sun Sparks, except the Zinglow.

In order to help you find the locations the four main constellations mentioned by BERT_X, here are pictures of how they look before and after they have been clicked. Finding the correct star color and arrangement can be tricky but this should help you out:

If you have not done your star search today please help.
PLEASE if you all could keep track of what stars you click on and post that info it could help WI figure out if there is a pattern to collecting certain stars from certain clicks (constellation).
For example. if you click on a star and you get Arte's face and you have found a star You can write down
top right -Arte - yellow star-- Zinglow
and if you want you can write the amount Alyssa offered you (60)
If your not sure about the color, the location will tell us.
This can help us figure out how to find all the different star's and then unlock the big prize (the throne). or it can help you figure out where the expensive stars are. please everyones help makes a huge difference. Please post your findings on EXOTERIC's thread.
